Sympis rufibasis (Erebidae, Erebinae)

Sympis rufibasis is found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Laos, Tiawan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malasia, Singapore, Indonessia, Philipines, West Papua and Papua New Guinea. In Australia it is found in Queensland from Cape York Penninsula and down the coast almost as far south as Mackay. The larvae is reported to feed on Dimocarpus, Litchi and Nephelium species. In Australia this may include the Queensland endemic Dimocarpus australianus - Native Lychee and D. longan which has been introduced for cultivation also Nephelium lappaceum - Rambutan which has also been introduced for cultivation.
